Le Pont Saint-Bénézet
Avignon is famous for its destroyed bridge, the Pont Saint-Bénézet and its Palais des Papes, the Popes' Palace. Avignon had been the centre of Christianity from 1309 to 1377, after Pope Clement V emigrated from Rome to the city. It was Gregor XI who returned to Rome, finally.
Le Palais des Papes
A great place for sightseeing, shopping,
or just sitting in front of an old French café.
